For their new distribution site at the headquarters in Winnenden (Germany), the company Kärcher placed an order with Westiform to make their new illuminated signs in large formats. The entire roof system measures about 200 square metres. Thanks to energy-saving technology, it consumes a minimum of power.
Building an illuminated sign in large format requires a lot of experience and technical know-how. For the Kärcher construction, the specialists at Westiform worked together with the project architects, structural engineers and steel erectors from the very beginning. Thus a hinge system was developed that is precisely tailored to the structure of the building.
On all four sides of the roof, the Kärcher logo and lettering light up the sky, each side on about 50 square metres. With these dimensions, translucent stretched fabric had to be used. Logo and lettering were applied with premium UV-resistant film on the fitted sheet.
Kärcher demanded a solution that consumes as little energy as possible. Westiform built in about 9,000 high efficiency LEDs. The luminosity of the system is controlled automatically by means of sophisticated controls to suit the current lighting conditions. When there’s sufficient daylight, the system switches off automatically.
Kärcher has been a Westiform customer for over 25 years. In addition to the labelling the new headquarters, Westiform has realized advertising systems for different Kärcher locations in Germany.
